Q and A: 2

Read this in one of the least known books. 'We, as humans, are always seeking connections. Physically we seek health and affection. Emotionally we yearn for a sense of belonging, intimacy and love. Intellectually, we look for patterns and relationships and spiritually, we pray for oneness with the divine' The book can be labelled decent but this one sentence was edifying ' Intellectually, we look for patterns and relationships'. I always thought patterns and relationships had something to do with emotions. I wouldn't have placed it under intellectual needs. I am wrong. This sentence makes sense!!

  1. I totally agree with what the book says! Relationships, at least in my case, serve to complete the intellectual picture for me. attraction has definitely something to do with the intellect..

  2. Kudos DD. You are way ahead in analysing things. I have taken time to grow up and I should grow up a lot.

  3. But I doubt! Is that so? Does intellect really care for relationship? What relationship? Relationship with other human beings? Or the relationship with the surroundings? At the outset, that very sentence you indicated seemed to me like a wishful thinking! OK... I'm not steadfast on my opinion.

  4. Relationships with our fellow beings. It's not that we consciously look out for people who are intellectual or those who have similar patterns of thoughts as ours, nor does it mean that relationships with less sophisticated are less satisfying. But there is always a conscious/subconscious yearning for somebody like himself/herself.

  5. I was thinking the function of intellect was more often to "differentiate" than "to integrate" between things/phenomena around. Delighted to see another point of view.
